Storyteller Coach/ Creative Consultant – Reiko Ho

Producer- Alana Eagle, Honolulu Civil Beat

Hawaii Storytellers is a community-driven event series by Honolulu Civil Beat that puts community voices at center stage sharing true, first-person narratives. Topics are often inspired by special reporting topics. www.civilbeat.org

As the Storyteller Coach, I work with a diverse array of people from the Hawai'i community to build their stories and curate the stories into a cohesive event. Most of them are not performers-- they are everyday folks, cultural practitioners, business owners, educators, parents, kupuna, keiki and more. To date, I have coached 9 Hawai'i Storyteller events, including one virtual event during the pandemic. This event is one of my personal favorites!

• January 2019- Understanding Mental Illness

• May 2019 - Incarceration

• September 2019 - How I Live with Dying

• March 2020 - What Local Means to Me

• August 2021 - Small Business in a Big Pandemic (Virtual)

• February 2022 -Food, Farmers, Fishponds, and Friends

• May 2022 - Where I Live: West O'ahu

• March 2023 - The Generations

• June 2023 -Where I Live: Windward O'ahu
